BUILDING A FAIRY GARDEN

Once Upon A Time,

in a world full of wonder and enchantment,

fairies existed. Yes, you read that right-

Fairies Need Homes Too!

Fairies are real and they need homes

too. These magical creatures, with their delicate wings and mischievous spirits, bring joy and beauty to the world around us. And did you know that certain types of plants have the power

to attract them?

Creating a mini fairy garden with these plants, along with a mini house, pond, and things fairies love, can help you invite these enchanting beings into your very own fairy garden. You can even build this magical fairy garden wonder into your existing dollhouse or create a container that will house your garden and complete your dollhouse set as an accessory,

First, one must attract and invite fairies by choosing plants that they adore. One of their favorites is the delicate and fragrant lavender. Not only does lavender attract fairies, but its relaxing scent also creates a serene atmosphere in your garden. Another plant that fairies find irresistible is the vibrant and colorful butterfly bush. These bushes are like magic portals for fairies, drawing them in with their sweet nectar and attracting beautiful butterflies as well.

Fairies are also drawn to plants with bell-shaped flowers, such as foxgloves and columbines. These whimsical flowers act as tiny bells, ringing in the presence of fairies and inviting them to dance among their petals. They also love to nest within these bell-like flowers. Additionally, don't forget to include plants like primroses and violets, as fairies love to rest on their delicate petals, basking in their sweet fragrance.

BUILDING THE FAIRY GARDEN

Now that we know the types of plants and flowers that fairies adore, we can choose how and where to create our garden.

To begin, choose in what type of container you will house your garden. If you have purchased a dollhouse from Doroty Domy with real garden space built-in, you can create the garden in this space. If your dollhouse did not come with such a space, you can choose from several options such as an Easter basket, a large stone, glass , metal or wooden bowl, a terracotta pot( even if broken), a teacup( for super miniature garden), a glass fishbowl, or my personal favorite - a glass terrarium ( squared or rounded).

Next, sketch out your planned fairy garden on a piece of paper. Consider the veal theme, color scheme, and the placement of plants and accessories. You can create different areas within your garden, such as a tiny pond, a miniature bonsai tree, a cozy seating area, and a pathway. Plan and envision your garden in detail so that you may know you have enough space in your chosen container.

Next, prepare your container. as mentioned above you can use almost any container that holds soil. I have chosen a glass terranium for it’s beauty of glass.

There are many glass terrariums available online in all types of styles and sizes. The Ferrisland Glass Plant Terranium Container is one available on Amazon at its smallest size starting at $19.99.

Next comes the fun part. Adding soil and plants, fill your chosen container with potting soil or a succulent soil mix, leaving enough space for the plants and accessories. Gently loosen the roots of your miniature bonsai tree and place them in the soil. Plant small flower seeds, noting the growth

size to make sure they will fit well in your garden when they have finally sprouted and grown to maturity. Choose plants that thrive in low light conditions if keeping your terranium indoors all the time.

Once you have completed your planting, it is time to add the decorative elements and accessories to

bring your fairy garden to life. Place tiny fairy figurines, miniature furniture, small bridges, little waterfalls and perhaps a tiny dollhouse? Consider creating a miniature pathway using tiny stones, decorative moss or even tiny bricks.  You can also incorporate natural elements such as small rocks, seashells  or pieces of wood to enhance the atmosphere. A small natural pond can be created by lining an indent in the soil with tiny pebbles and rocks, then filling the gaps with sand and adding water. If done properly, the rocks and sand should keep gaps out and the water should pool inside the pond. You can also use joint compound to seal the pond properly to void leaks.

once your fairy garden is complete, give it a gentle misting with a spray bottle to provide moisture to the plants. Avoid overwatering, as the enclosed environment may create excess humidity. Keep an eye on the Garden and maintain as needed.

To further attract fairies, leave little sweets and candies or breads in your garden. You never know, perhaps a fairy may stop by.
